On December 11th, supplement, equipment, and lifestyle brand Onnit announced via social media a new version of their bestselling nootropic formula, Alpha BRAIN Instant. (Read our full Alpha BRAIN review here.) As one of the world’s best-selling nootropics, Alpha BRAIN has made waves among students, celebrities, techies, and gamers, enough among the latter for Onnit to sponsor an entire team of professional gamers.
A World-Famous Brain Formula
Onnit burst onto the nootropic scene around 2011 with the release of Alpha BRAIN, a supplement made with all-natural ingredients and certified drug free by the Banned Substances Control Group (BSCG). Onnit has also commissioned multiple clinical studies that indicate Alpha BRAIN is effective at boosting memory recall and cognition as compared to control groups. Few other nootropic manufacturers can claim similarly.
The exact formulation, dose, and delivery (well, it’s a drink mix; more on that below) of Alpha BRAIN instant hasn’t been announced. In fact, the post, embedded from Instagram below, is purposefully vague, though it does seem heavily targeted toward the gaming crowd.
It’s worth noting that Onnit already produces a sort-of powdered variation of Alpha BRAIN; their Onnit 180 formula combines choice ingredients from several of their popular supplements. The selection of Alpha BRAIN ingredients in Onnit 180 includes Vitamin B6, Alpha GPC, Huperzia Serrata, Vinpocetine, AC-11®, Bacopa, Ptserostilbene, L-Tyrosine, L-Theanine, Oat Straw, and Phosphatidylserine.

Our guess on what Alpha BRAIN Instant will actually be? We’re betting on a powdered or ready-to-drink formulation for quick digestion, perhaps formulated specifically for fast absorption. In fact, a few photos have been making the rounds on social media to indicate it’s an instant drink mix, sold in boxes of individual serving packets (for portability). So far, we’ve seen Natural Spice and Natural Peach floating around as the two launch flavors.
And while there are no updates on formulation changes, we can’t help but wonder: Maybe we’re about to see the first version of Alpha BRAIN to contain caffeine or other popular stimulants?
Only time will tell, and while Onnit hasn’t announced a specific release date for the instant version of Alpha BRAIN just yet, we’ll keep on the lookout!
